The Samoan Studies Institute provides translation and interpretation services for Samoan and English languages for government and non-government agencies, local and off island communities. Students majoring in Samoan Studies are encouraged to participate in these office projects for professional and life experiences.

Translated a 5-YEAR DEVELOPMENT PLAN for the American Samoa Historic Preservation Office.
Translated Leptospirosis RESEARCH from English to Samoan for the University of Queensland, Australia.
Provided translation for a brochure for ASAHEC.
Completed translations, back translations, and research on terminologies for Dynamic Lang Centre Ltd, SEATTLE.

2011

Completed Rose Atoll Project, which was also bilingual ($56k).
Translated the Wyland Mural for the Dept of Commerce & Coastal Mgt Prog.
Translated a Tsunami awareness Instructor Guide for the FEMA National Disaster Preparedness Training Center, University of Hawaii.
Completed transcription of interviews for Dept. Marine and Wildlife Resources.
Translated Autism Spectrum Disorders FACT SHEET for UCEDD.
Translated English text to Samoan for the Dept of Commerce Coastal Management Program.
Translated a Community Health Survey for PIMA Prevention Partnership Arizona USA.
Completed a translation of a pamphlet for Dynamic Lang Centre Ltd, Seattle.
Finished SSI PROMOTIONAL VIDEO in bilingual format.
Completed TED coloring book translation ($5k).

2012

Translated a Rose Island AGREEMENT for the National Park of A.Samoa.
Provided translation and back translation for HPO Executive OFFICES of the Governor.
Translated a survey for the Dept of Health.
Translated and back-translated an upcoming National Park of A.Samoa Exhibit for Color-Ad Inc.
Completed the English Version of the Final Report.
Worked with TRANSPERFECT Translation.

2014

Faculty continued weekly meetings on Bilingual Translations.

2015

Faculty members transferred to Research, Translation, Interpretation.
Provided interpretation for Star Kist Employees for a US-based audit organization.

2016

The ENUGAGANA BILINGUAL GLOSSARY Project continued.
Draft results were released, requiring shorter entries, with transliterated synonyms accepted.

2017

Worked on a CONCUR Consulting/Interpretation/Translation Project.
Provided interpretation for a US Fisheries, Marine & Wildlife Public meeting.
The ENUGAGANA BILINGUAL GLOSSARY Project continued.
Probono work was noted as investing in the local community.

2018

Published Enugagana and Tala le Ta'ui in December 2018.
Established team review as an important facet to meet university needs.

2019

The ENUGAGANA BILINGUAL GLOSSARY Project was LAUNCHED with other SSI texts (10/21/2019).
Translated "Untangling tattoos influence on immune response" for Dr. Chris Lynn at the University of Alabama.
Translated the "MEDICAL CANNABIS Act 2020" for Nua & Satele.

Translated for ASCC UCEDD on Covid.
Launched "Tala le Taui 4," the first collection of Manu'a stories printed by the office, in a bilingual format.
